GitSync is a hands-on hackathon designed to help students and early developers gain practical modern software engineering skills beyond the classroom.

This event focuses on Production Engineering, Git/GitHub collaboration workflows, AI integration using the Gemini API, and cloud deployment on Google Cloud.

Unlike traditional hackathons that only focus on building projects locally, GitSync introduces participants to how real engineering teams build, collaborate, deploy, and ship applications in production environments.

Submission Requirements

To successfully participate in GitSync: Build With AI, teams must build a project during the hackathon period and submit it through Devpost before the submission deadline.

Your submission must include the following:

Required Submission Materials

  • Project name

  • Team member information

  • Short project description

  • GitHub repository link

  • Demo video or screenshots

  • Clear explanation of your project

  • Instructions on how to run or access the project

For “Best Use of Gemini API”

Projects competing in this category must:

  • Integrate the Gemini API into the application

  • Clearly explain how Gemini API was used

  • Demonstrate AI functionality during judging

Examples include:

  • AI assistants

  • AI productivity tools

  • AI-powered developer tools

  • Smart automation systems

  • AI-enhanced web or mobile apps

For “Best App Deployed on Google Cloud”

Projects competing in this category must:

  • Be successfully deployed on Google Cloud

  • Include a public deployment link

  • Be accessible during judging

  • Demonstrate working cloud deployment

Examples include deployments using:

  • Firebase

  • Google Cloud Run

  • App Engine

  • Compute Engine

  • Other Google Cloud services

  • Judging Criteria
    To qualify for a prize category: Projects competing for the Gemini API category must clearly demonstrate Gemini API integration. Projects competing for the Google Cloud category must provide a working deployment hosted on Google Cloud.
